Learn all you need to know about the amazing Allison in 21 questions or less!

Meet Allison Chatterkick TW (1).png

Though she is usually running around brainstorming or helping our team with a client, we sat down with Allison (for the 10 minutes her schedule allowed) to ask her a few questions so we can really get to know her. Afterall, what you name your car says a lot about a person!

1. Does your car have a name?

No. But I did have vanity plates on my last car with my nickname, Bubba.

2. Excluding people, food, and survival tools - If you could bring three things on a deserted island, what would they be?

Since it’s deserted, I’m guessing cell coverage is spotty at best, so my phone is out. I’d probably need a cozy blanket, photos of my friends and family and a boat. <<< Would that be a survival tool??? I’d have to get off the island pretty quick. I’m not very nature-y.

3. What is your personal philosophy?

Be nice. Its way less stressful than other options.

4. Where is your favorite place to be?

Home. It’s where my family and bed is.

5. What has been the most important innovation you have witnessed in your lifetime?

It would have to be social media. I was lucky enough to get the best of both worlds. I was able to have my high school and college years free from online documentation. But then obviously, get the benefits of having a pretty sweet job because of it.

6. What are your most overused words/phrases?

Kelsey would say that I use ALERT, or everybody panic entirely too much. I argue that there is a time and place and sometimes everyone DOES need to panic. Personally, I think I say, “D’you know what I mean?” an irritating number of times in a day – like I irritate myself, so I’m guessing that others notice my abuse of that phrase. D’you know what I mean? ;)

7. Which one would you want most – flying cars, robot housekeepers, or moon cities?

None of the above. I’m terrified of being in a car accident. A mid-air car accident adds another layer of terror that I don’t want to deal with. I’ve seen too many movies where the robots go crazy and try to take over. Housework isn’t THAT hard. Also, moon cities? What? No.

8. What is the one thing you cannot resist?

Brownies. Also, kisses from my kids, no matter how sick they may or may not be.

9. What are 3 words to describe yourself?

Creative, weird and honest. << If my mouth doesn’t say it, my face does.

10. What would you tell your 12-year-old self?

Stop fretting about everything. The phrase ‘permanent record’ in school is something that is made up to scare you into following the rules. Everyone is as self conscious as you are, even the cool kids. Also, being “cool” is overrated and exhausting. Save time and be yourself.

11. Favorite line from a movie?

Pretty much any line from Raising Arizona – but I especially like “Mind you don’t cut yourself, Mordecai.” I don’t know why – I just love it and try to sneak it into conversation when I can.

12. What was your most embarrassing moment?

After just talking about why I was excited to NOT have my high school years documented – WHY would I tell you that?! No. Next!

13. If you could have dinner with anyone – dead or alive, who would it be?

My grandma. I really miss her.

14. If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I believe we’ve covered this. Brownies. All day, everyday.

15. People would be surprised if they knew…

I had my own bakery. Kind-of. I was a one-woman show and I would bake (mostly from scratch) and decorate cakes and cookies for all occasions. It was super fun, but super exhausting. I pretty much quit the biz when I had my son. There just weren’t enough hours in the day. Shout out to my die-hard What A Treat Bakery fans! Who knows, maybe I’ll mix again.

16. What do you always want to try and never did?

Swim with sharks. There’s still time.

17. What is the first concert you attended?

I can’t remember the first. But I know Phish was one of the first, if not THE first.

18. What are three career lessons you’ve learned thus far?

1. Sometimes being nice is perceived as being uninformed or weak. The trick is to walk the line of being taken seriously, but also staying true to myself. That’s a challenge.

2. Taking the time to learn new things is super important and soooo worth it.

3. Be your own advocate. If you want something or want to be something, set your sites on it and go for it.

19. Do you have a favorite newspaper, blog?

I’ve never subscribed to the newspaper. As far as blogs, I like Mashable and of course, Buzzfeed. I also have a childhood friend who is a fashion blogger that I sometimes live vicariously though. InSpades, check it out.

20. If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

An animator for Pixar.

21. What's your first memory of social media?

My husband trying to talk me into signing up for this cool thing called Facebook. He thought I’d really like it. Good call, Josh.
