We've always known that social media is image-conscious. And now, with the explosion of video, infographics, and high-resolution images, it's even more important to keep your content within the framework of our social media vehicles.
Pinterest and Instagram are experiencing record numbers of users and engagement, and visuals are quickly becoming what separates the share-worthy blogs from the packed paragraphs of the mediocre.
Consider these facts:
- Over 70 million photos and videos are shared on Instagram PER DAY
- 15 billion pins on Pinterest were added in the last six months.
- 63% of social media is made up of images alone.
- 32% of social media is streaming videos. And this number is expected to rise.
So how do you make an awesome impression? Two things: Fit the framework, and take the picture.
Make the image the right size.
Thankfully, the folks at Constant Contact updated their awesome cheatsheet.
Whatever you do, don't shy away from images.
According to Simply Measured, images account for 62% of all brand posts and 77% of all engagement. In other words, if you really want your inbound marketing program to reach your fans, be prepared to "Say Cheese!".
Use your analytics to determine which images work best for you. Are they pictures of your staff? Your customers? Your products? Or are they images of more abstract things, like humor, inspirational quotes, or local flavor? Other than the image dimensions, there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach to which type of visual best reflects and promotes your brand. And only you and your team know that.
